I have recently installed Kingdom 2017 on my computer, but I couldn’t open my projects on it. The error message is:

This project is still attached to SQL Server Express. Either the project is still in use or the project did not close properly. Close any open projects, verify there are no Direct Connect jobs in progress, and try again. If this does not resolve the issue, re-open and then close the project using Kingdom version 8.6, 8.7 or 8.8, and then try the upgrade again.

Then, I just decided to create a new project, but for my surprise, it’s giving another error message:

Unable to obtain project information. Please verify your project .tks and .xml files are valid. The following error occurred: Invalid character in the given encoding. Line 9, position 23.

I’ve tried to uninstall and install both Kingdom 2017 and SQL 2014 SP2, but it didn’t work.

As far as I know, Windows 10 requires SQL Server Express 2012 SP2 or later. So I can’t try the older versions of it.

I strongly believe this has something to do with my Windows 10.

Does anyone know how I can fix it?
