## GetNeg Trace Calculation

I am working in an area where sands are identified as soft event( negative trough) in my case.

The Sum of Negative Amplitudes Volume has been quite useful in identifying reservoirs in that area.

However Kingdom can not generate a Sum of Negative Amplitudes volume.

Will the GetNeg calculation give similar results as SNA?

If you only want to see the negative values in your seismic volume, GetNeg may do the job.

GetNeg trace calculation sets all positive values to zero, and it leaves the negative values unchanged.

LikeThanks Admin,

What seismic attribute will then be used to extract the sands from a GetNeg volume?

Will it be Vatsum or Vatmin? And will the results be comparable to an extraction done in a Sum of Negative(SNA) volume?

LikeBoth Vatsum and Vatmin is calculated between two interpreted horizons, ideally very closely spaced ones since the output is a new horizon with the result of the volume attribute calculation at average TWT between those two input horizons. You can run such volume attribute calculation on the regular seismic volume without the need of performing any trace calculation such as GetNeg.

By the way, Vatsum looks for all amplitude values, both negatives and positives, whereas Vatmin looks for largest negative amplitudes. Therefore, Vatsum result would look similar to that of Vatmin if they are run on the SNA volume.
